Glen Gaylord Swarts, age 86, went to be with Jesus on March 28, 2021, after an extended battle with dementia.
He was born on February 17, 1935, to Dottie Mae and Gaylord F. Swarts in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is survived by Brenda Swarts, his loving spouse of 48 years; his sons, Charles Swarts and wife, Jennifer Swarts; Jeffery Swarts and wife, Vanessa Ray-Swarts; and daughter, Christi Swarts; granddaughter, Chandler; and his sister, Gloria Locke.
Glen grew up in Wichita Falls where he graduated from Wichita Falls High School and Midwestern State University. He graduated with a degree in geology. He was an Independent Oil Operator for 50 plus years and drilled his first well at age 20 before he graduated from Midwestern State University. He made friends everywhere he went. He always had a wonderful smile and a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh.
Glen was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating and fishing, and he passed those passions on to his children. He knew how to fix almost anything and taught his children to do the same. He was always willing to come help his kids with anything that needed repair around their houses.
He was a member of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church and the Oil Information Library of Ft. Worth.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) to help find a cure for this terrible disease.
