Gilbert Singleton

February 9, 1937 — September 12, 2021

Gilbert Singleton Sr. was born in St. Helena Parish, LA on February 9th, 1937 and was raised in a Christian home. He later received Salvation and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, at Two-Wing Temple in 1953. He served faithfully under the discipleship of the late Willie L. Wilbon where he was later called into ministry in 1969. His faithfulness led to his Ordination as an Elder in 1981, yet God had more for him. Upon the death of Pastor Calvin Walker, he was chosen to pastor the ministry in October of 1985. After many years of service to the Lord, he was appointed Superintendent of Shalom District in 2000. As a husband, father, mentor, businessman, humanitarian, and community visionary, he made impactful changes within his community as he sought to open doors and embrace needs. He led the congregation of Community Church of God in Christ, Inc. standing without waver, on the Word of God. On September 12, 2021, Superintendent Gilbert Singleton Sr. received his Robe of Righteousness hearing the words “Well done thy good and faithful servant”. His legacy will live on. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Singleton, and children, all ordained ministers, and their spouses; Gilbert Singleton Jr., Katrina & Raymond Delmar, Kenneth & Marie Singleton, Wayne & Temekia Singleton; Sister Joann S.
