Gerald John Weisenfels, 85, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 in Arlington, Texas.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Saturday April 6, at 11:30 in Electra, Texas, followed by internment at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Gerald was born on November 12, 1938 in Electra to the late John Peter and Mary (Kohl) Weisenfels. He grew up on a farm and dairy north of Punkin Center, Texas and graduated from Electra High School in 1957. He attended Texas Tech University and received his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1965 after a two-year service break. On April 24, 1974, he and Cecilia Roessler were married in Carrollton, Texas.

Gerald served in the Army for a year and was recalled to active duty for another year in the National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Gerald began his accounting career as the Controller of the American Grain Corporation in Plainview, Texas in 1965. Over his career, he worked for three Federal Agencies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in Washington, DC, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Dallas and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Fort Worth, Texas. Gerald was a system accountant for the USDA and the Director of the regional accounting operations for both the IRS and HUD.

His parents and sister, Loretta Corder, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; son Gerry and his wife Shannon and granddaughter Madeline and grandsons Hayden and John of Midland, Texas; sister Rosemary Kohl of Fort Worth, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Paul’s Church in Electra, c/o St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 600 Davey Dr, Burkburnett, Texas 76354 or a charity of your choice…all in memory of Gerald Weisenfels.
