Georgia Rae Lummus

August 4, 1930 — June 1, 2024

Georgia Rae Lummus, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at the Texas Masonic Retirement Community in Arlington, TX. She was born on August 4, 1930, in Bright Star, Arkansas to Calvin and Bertha Brown and married Joe Bailey Lummus of Bloomberg Texas on November 22, 1946. They made their home in the Atlanta Texas area, where she lived until after Joe’s death in 2003. “Rae” as her friends and family called her, was active in her church and the community, serving as an officer of the Women’s Club, a board member of the Friends of the Library, and a past
matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a wonderful cook, gardener, and interior designer. She was a true southern belle and, since she and Joe both came from families with 10 siblings, she often hosted large family gatherings on the holidays. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt and was loved by friends and family alike. She will be greatly missed.

Rae is preceded in death by her loving husband Joe Lummus, son Jodie Lummus, grandson Brandon Lummus, parents and 9 siblings. She is survived by daughter Donna Hill Pope of Fort Worth, grandchildren: Dan Hill and wife Diana of Fort Worth; Paula Warrick and husband John of Fort Worth; Lisa Hill and fiance Rick Thompson of Fort Worth; Stacie Mooney and husband Casey of Bloomberg; Stephanie Sertuche and husband Simon. Great grandchildren: Kaitlin Mooney Giles and husband Bryce; Brandon Mooney; Ryleigh Smith; Kenzleigh Lummus; Oakleigh Sertuche; Brandon Warrick and wife Rachel; Logan Warrick; Audrey Warrick; Nathan Hill and Amber Hill; Great-great grandchildren: Brinley Warrick and Kennedy Warrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will return to the home she loved and be interned at a graveside service at New Hope Baptist Church in Bloomberg Texas.
