Geneva Lindem Burkhardt

In Loving Memory of Geneva “Gene” Josephine Draper Lindem Burkhardt (1927–2025)

Geneva Lindem Burkhardt, a spirited and dedicated woman whose zest for life knew no bounds, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 97. Known affectionately as Gene by friends and family, and lovingly remembered as Grammy by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends and their children. Gene was a beacon of warmth, creativity, and resilience—a woman who genuinely believed that life’s greatest pleasures were the simple joys of baking, cooking, traveling, and a steadfast work ethic that carried her through every chapter of her remarkable journey.

A Life Rich with Flavor and Adventure

From her early years, Gene’s passion for cooking and baking blossomed into a lifelong love affair with food. Whether she was experimenting with new recipes in her cozy kitchen or hosting elaborate family feasts, her culinary skills brought people together and created cherished memories. Her kitchen was a place of constant laughter, creativity, and comfort, where every meal was an expression of love and care.

Her adventurous spirit extended far beyond the kitchen. A devoted traveler, Gene was known for her curiosity and desire to experience different cities, music, entertainers, and food firsthand. Her travels inspired countless others to embrace the beauty and culinary delights of the world with an open mind and generous heart. She always looked fabulous, no matter what the occasion.

Dedication Until the Very End

What truly set Gene apart was her unwavering commitment to work and purpose. Even as the years advanced, she maintained an active social life of travel and dining and continued to contribute her wisdom and expertise. Her colleagues and friends admired her work ethic, often remarking that her knowledge and spirit were as strong as ever, right up until her final days when she said she was not going to renew her Real Estate license and would be retiring.

A Legacy of Love and Inspiration

Gene’s legacy is one of boundless energy and love—a reminder that age is merely a number and that a life well-lived is measured by the memories we create and the hearts we touch. Her culinary creations, adventurous tales, tireless spirit, and brilliant sense of humor will forever resonate with those who were lucky enough to know her. Her love extended to her feline companions, as well, who comforted her to the end.

As we say goodbye to this extraordinary woman, we honor her life by carrying forward her passion for living fully, loving deeply, and never letting the spark of curiosity fade. Gene Burkhardt’s memory will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of all who knew her, leaving a lasting imprint on the tapestry of our lives.

Gene is survived by her children Brady Lindem, Suzy Lindem, and Holly Lindem, grandchildren Scott Stroer (Tara), Jenny Anderson (Matt), and Katie Potts (Robert), and her six great-grandchildren who will forever cherish her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love.

A celebration of her life will be held on March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, TX 76013. If sending flowers, Gene only wants white orchids. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the below in her honor:
