Gene Hall Todd Obituary 1926-2024

Gene Hall Todd, born on April 24th, 1926, in Plains Georgia, peacefully passed away on January 12, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 97 years old. She is survived by her 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband.
Gene was a vivacious and fun-loving woman, who possessed a lifelong love of learning and insatiable curiosity. She often joked that she received her PHD from PBS as she absorbed facts about the origins of the universe, evolution, history and more. Gene’s heart was as big as her opinions were strong. She was a warm and loving woman and whose light shone on all those around her. Known simply as “Granny” to family, friends and even friends of friends, Gene’s warmth and fun-loving reputation reached far and wide. She enjoyed painting, planting in her garden and watching the birds or butterflies busying themselves with her plants. Gene was known for cracking jokes and being the life of the party. Glass of wine in hand, she could and would take down any opponent at cards or rummikub.
Gene attended university at Shorter College. A lifelong lover of the arts and a vocalist, Gene studied music and singing. While she never worked as a professional musician, music was a constant presence in her life. In 1946 she married her late husband, William Page Todd and together they had three children: Eugenia (Daniel), Nelson (Andrea) and Sally (Bruce). In 1963 Gene and her family settled in Arlington Tx where she lived until her death. She was also a long-time active member of the Arlington Women’s Club.
A memorial service to honor Gene’s life will be held on Saturday April 27th at 2pm at Wade Funeral Home, Arlington Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the Arlington Women’s Club in memory of Gene. Your donation will go toward their scholarship program.
