Gary Simpson, born on August 7, 1952, in Paris, Tennessee, to James and Mildred Simpson, went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2024. Gary was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose hard work, resilience, and love for his family inspired everyone who knew him.
During his high school years, Gary moved from Tennessee to Detroit, Michigan, where his family rented an apartment in a four family flat. There he met the love of his life, Pauline, when she would sit on the stairs so he would have to pass her.
Shortly after starting his family, Gary met John Patterson, who shared with him the gift of the Gospel of Christ. John began to tell him things from the Bible that were astonishing. Gary found some of it unbelievable, and that led him to buy a Bible and study it. He and his wife, Pauline, soon trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and began learning the truth of rightly dividing the Bible. This transformation shaped Gary’s life from that day forward. Over the years, he provided facilities and the means for many Bible studies, where countless friends and family members came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Through these Bible studies, Gary’s children, their spouses, and grandchildren have come to know the Lord as their Savior and put their faith and trust in Him. Many are grateful for his faithful service; Gary gave all the glory and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ.
In 1978, determined to build a brighter future, Gary left his factory job in Detroit, Michigan, and moved with his wife Pauline and their three young children to Arlington, Texas. With courage and vision, he founded Simpson's Signs, a business that not only provided for his family but also became a source of livelihood for numerous family members and others, becoming a lasting symbol of Gary’s dedication to family and community. Today, the legacy of Simpson Signs continues through his son Jason and Jason’s wife, Mary, who proudly carry forward Gary’s work and vision.
Later in life, you could find Gary realizing his dream of living in the country. He and Pauline lost their home in Arlington to a fire. The Lord provided, and they were able to move to their 20-acre lot in Greenville and live the country life that Gary missed from his childhood. In Greenville, you could find the grandchildren riding four wheelers, the great grandchildren splashing in the pool, relatives visiting from out of state, Gary out on his tractor, or enjoying music out on the porch watching the sunset with those he loved the most.
Gary survived by his beloved wife of over 52 years, Pauline; his children; Donna Randall, husband, James; Gary W Simpson, wife Christine; Jason Simpson, wife Mary; grandchildren; Caitlyn Eubanks, husband Chase; Lindsey Romine, Kyle Simpson, Hunter Tollefson, wife Maddy; Lori Simpson, Hannah Simpson, Jack, and Dylan Randall. great-grandchildren; William Romine, Charlotte Eubanks, Matthew Romine, and Vivienne Eubanks, and many nieces and nephews.
