Gary Don Carson, 77, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Arlington. He was born on August 1, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and grew up in Richardson, Texas. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Virginia Carson, and his brother, Larry Carson.
Gary proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he spent four years overseas working on nuclear submarines, followed by 13 years in the Army National Guard as a Supply Sergeant. He later served as a Park Ranger and was a Licensed Master’s Counselor in Baptist ministry. A devout Non-Denominational Christian, Gary’s faith was central to his life.
Gary was passionate about many interests, including military history, especially World War II, trains, crime dramas, and police shows. He also had a deep love for animals and enjoyed eating out with family and friends. Among his favorite songs were hymns such as “I Can Only Imagine,” “Scars in Heaven,” and “Weary Traveler,” as well as the classic “El Paso” by Marty Robbins.
Gary was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Carson, and grandchildren Elijah McKinley, Derek Lentz and his wife Rachael, and Rebellie McKinley.
Gary was an Arlington Police Officer and a proud 100% disabled veteran. His courage, dedication, and love for his family and country will never be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on December 20, 2024, at 9:30 AM at the DFW National Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life.
