Gary Arrington

Gary Arrington, age 56, passed away on March 1, 2023 in Dallas. He has gone to join his loved ones in heaven.

Gary was born November 23, 1966 in Grand Prairie Texas. He was the youngest of four children of Gene and Jolinda Arrington.

Gary grew up in North Arlington, Texas and being the youngest was a very active child always wanting to try new things. He received the most stitches of the family by the time he was a teenager as he seemed to have no fear. Gary made friends easily and enjoyed doing things with his friends from the neighborhood. He graduated from Lamar High School and attended UT Austin to study business.

Gary loved playing sports, especially baseball. He played football and ran track through his high school years and loved being part of the team. He also held his high school record for the 440-yard dash for more than a decade until it was broken by a future Olympic gold medalist.

After college Gary got into the food industry where he excelled as an account manager for several different major companies. He had a strong work ethic and was second to none in customer service, a talent he developed at a young age as a server for the original Steak and Ale restaurant near Six Flags over Texas. His career took him to Sysco where he achieved top national sales honors over his nearly 2 decades with the company.

Gary married Patrice Slaymaker in 1998 and moved to Frisco Texas. There, Gary and Patrice started their family that includes 4 wonderful children. He loved his kids fiercely, enjoyed coaching their sports, and was always loudest in the stands cheering them on.

Gary was larger than life and every room he entered was brighter because of his presence. He had a big heart and loved his family very much and will be missed by them all.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Jolinda Arrington. He is survived by his former wife, Patrice Arrington; sons Evan, Elliot and Emerson Arrington; daughter Isabelle Arrington; brothers Gene Arrington and Jeff Arrington and wife Jane; sister Diane Arrington; and many nieces and nephews.
