Gabriel (Gabe) Jimarez died unexpectedly on October 11, 2022, at age 51 and is survived by his wife, Irma Isela; son, Alejandro Gabriel; daughter, Daniela Mireya; parents, Elvia and Ramon; and siblings, Gilbert and Gary.
Gabe was born on January 4, 1971, and grew up in El Paso, the middle of three boys who were often up to no good. He was frequently on the receiving end of his older brother’s (Gilbert) antics but was often instigating trouble for his younger brother (Gary), though he was always his protector. No one could pick on or beat up Gary except him, well, and his buddies too after martial arts class when they took turns practicing their karate moves on him. Gabe was a trombone player in the Andress High School band and a member of the baseball team which fueled his competitive nature.
After high school, while working in Mervyns, he met his wife, Irma. After the first couple of dates Gabe told Gary there was something about Irma, “she doesn’t take any crap and if I tell her something, she tells me I’m wrong”. After eight years of movie dates, camping trips, bowling leagues and country dancing, Gabe finally proposed and the two were married on February 20, 1999.
After a move to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in search of better opportunities, Gabe and Irma bought a home and started their family. Alex came first in September 2004 followed by Daniela in November 2006.
Gabe was a devoted husband and father, hard-working, with an entrepreneurial spirit. He often had ideas for businesses; his latest a car-detailing gig which he performed in his free time. Gabe had a knack for connecting with people which is why he had many friends – several of whom he had known for 20-30 years. He was an avid sports fan following basketball, baseball, football and soccer. He was always involved with his children’s sports activities, taking them to soccer and baseball practices/games and offering constructive advice for improvement afterwards. He often traveled long and far to sporting events, including a fun father-daughter trip to Las Vegas for Daniela’s soccer tournament. He and Alex bonded over watching different games or annoying each other playing video games, especially if Gabe was losing, as he was a sore loser. His competitive nature offered this advice to his children: 1) Don’t underestimate people, and 2) Be you and don’t let others shut you down – wise words to live by.
Gabe enjoyed cooking and was a master at grilling and anybody who knew him knew his catch phrase: “honestly, to tell you the truth”! So, honestly to tell you the truth, Gabe, we hope you knew how well loved and respected you were. You will be greatly missed.
