G.W. was born to Daniel Boone and Jewell Myrtle (Elms) Austin on July 13, in Ringling, OK. He was married to the love of his life Sue (Wickersham) Austin for over 55 years.
G.W. was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient. In 1984 he began working at Lockheed Martin as an electrician and retired in 2014. Upon retirement, G.W. continued to serve people in the community. He helped widows & neighbors by repairing their homes. Every Tuesday he volunteered at Southside Church of Christ Pantry. He loved his Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and hung ceiling fans and fixed electrical plugs for all who needed them. He loved OU football and watched all their games making a trip up there whenever he could. BOOMER SOONER! G.W. and Sue traveled to all 50 states and many other countries. He loved his kids and grandkids and went to all their sporting events.
In everything he did he showed kindness and an angry word never came out of his mouth. He put others before himself and would always be there to help in any way he could. Through his actions, G.W. taught those around him how to be a loving husband, father, and friend… and to save your money.
