Freddie Elroy “Fred” Gromatzky, 86, passed away on June 25, 2022 in Arlington.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Arlington Life Shelter.

Fred was born on December 24, 1935 in Hamilton, Texas to Fredrick Wilhelm Gromatzky and Alice Margaret Sibert Gromtazky.

Fred had a great work ethic and enjoyed his job as an Arlington Police Officer. He stopped working at the age of 86, and volunteered with Citizens on Patrol.

Fred’s love of music began in high school singing in a quartet. He loved country music and loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed attending rodeos.

Fred was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was an avid Texas Rangers Baseball Club fan. Fred enjoyed cooking and made a great batch of pinto beans.

He dearly loved his family and his dog, Buddy. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Jean Bradley.

Survivors: Wife, Claudria Florene Black Gromatzky; sons, Rodney Gromtazky and wife, Judy, and Greg Gromatzky; daughter, Tracy Gromatzky; stepson, Brady Bryan and wife, Carol; brothers, Gary Gromatzky and wife, Dixie, and Rick Gromatzky and wife, Sarah; sister, Mavis Elrod; grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Jacoby, Cathy and Tralyn; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
