GRAND PRAIRIE -- Fred Lee Brasfield, 71, passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, after a long, hard battle with heart disease and renal cancer.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Fred was born on Aug. 15, 1945, in Galveston. He grew up in Tyler where he graduated from John Tyler High School in 1963; graduated from Tyler Junior College in 1965 with a drafting degree; and then on to the University of North Texas where he graduated in 1968 with a B.S. and later received his master's degree. Following his schooling, he taught drafting at Sunset High School. In 1971, he began teaching drafting at Tarrant County College until he retired in 2013, after 39 years.
In 1969, he met and married the love of his life, Sheri Linville, and had been married 47 years. He and Sheri have two wonderful children, Tanya and Brian, who were his pride and joy.
Fred and Sheri enjoyed traveling the United States to see lighthouses, covered bridges, wineries and national parks.
Fred was a devoted husband, loving dad, proud PaPa and a great friend.
Survivors: His wife, Sheri Brasfield; children, Tanya Raymond and husband, Bart, and Brian Brasfield and wife, Jillian; grandson, Drew; granddaughters, Abbie and Lindi; mother-in-law, Perry Jean Linville; sister-in-law, Vicki Hays and husband, Gary; and many relatives and friends.
