Franklin Porter Pickle, 92, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, in Arlington, Texas. Services: DFW National Cemetery, Friday, May 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., Lane 3. Visitation: Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington, Texas, Thursday, May 25, 2017, 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children or Trinity United Methodist Church, Arlington, Texas. Franklin was born June 21, 1924, in Taylor, Texas, to Bertha Celia Taulbee Pickle and Andrew Porter Pickle. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served aboard the USS Samuel Miles, which was struck by a kamikaze plane during the invasion of Okinawa. In 1947 he received his BBA degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown, and thru the Navy received a direct commission to attend Harvard Business School. He obtained his MBA degree from Texas Tech University in 1951. He was licensed as a CPA in 1959. Frank maintained a private accounting practice in Ft. Worth. Thereafter he worked for the Maritime Division of the US Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., and then served as an auditor for the Forestry Division of the US Department of Agriculture, auditing leases among the federal forest lands in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he retired. Frank was an accomplished musician, playing mainly the bass and tuba. He was active in the Ballut Abyad Shrine concert and jazz bands in Albuquerque and was part of the Rio Grande Jazz Society. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Earline Ryan Pickle, stepson, Michael Carr Sr., (Julia C Carr), and the mother of his children, Jimmye Louise Avinger Pickle. Survivors: He is survived by his daughter, Mary Webster (Ned), son, David Pickle, grandchildren, Matthew Webster, Andrew Webster (Cherise), Elizabeth Gamble (Drew), Jacob Pickle, Zachary Pickle, Michael Carr Jr. (Carrie), Ryan Carr (Kim), Kimbrell Blevins (Josh) and ten great grandchildren.
