Franklin Delano Coburn

Franklin Delano Coburn, age 89 a former resident of Bradford, PA, passed away in Frisco, Texas on February 5, 2023. He will be buried at the DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas with military honors.

A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington where he served as an Elder and Trustee.

Mr. Coburn was the son of George Clifford and Gertrude Coburn of Bradford, PA. He was born on December 9, 1933 in Ridgway, Pa. He graduated from Bradford High School in June 1951 and joined the United States Air Force where he served from May 1952 to April 1956 in the Security Service assigned to the National Security Agency in Washington, DC.

Upon discharge he was employed as a Tax and Insurance Clerk with Northwestern Federal Savings in Washington, DC. On September 15, 1973, he was elected President which was merged with a larger institution in December 1980. He joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta and the Federal Deposit Insurance Company in various managerial roles. He retired in December 1995. During retirement he was employed in Real Estate Management in the Atlanta, Ga area.

Mr. Coburn earned a Master of Commercial Science degree from Benjamin Franklin University of Washington, DC which is now part of George Washington University in Washington. He is a Graduate of the American Savings and Loan Institute school for Executive Development at the University of Georgia and Graduate School of Savings and Loan at Indiana University.

Mr. Coburn was President of the Benjamin Franklin University Alumni Association, President of the Financial Marketing Council of Washington, D.C. He also served as President of Lenox Hill Homeowners Association, Atlanta, Ga, President of the Arlington Six Flags Kiwanis Club in Arlington and Board Member and Secretary/Treasurer of the Arlington Alliance for Youth a Kiwanis sponsored nonprofit to assist the Youth of Arlington, Texas.

Mr. Coburn relocated to Arlington, Texas to be near his children and grandchildren. He was a member, Elder and Trustee of First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, Texas.
He is survived by his children, David and his spouse Jackie and Cathy and her spouse Charlie, as well as grandchildren Kyle, Melissa and Laura and a great-grandchild, Preston.
