Frank Sherrod Dingwerth, 93, passed away on July 5, 2023, in Arlington,Texas.

Frank (Doc) was born on August 14, 1929 in Kansas City, MO, to Frank Christopher Dingwerth and Attie Riggs Sherrod.

Frank graduated from North Side High School in 1946 and went on to earn a B.A. Degree from Texas Christian University in 1950. Then, earned an M.D. degree from Texas University, at Galveston, and afterwards, interned at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Frank married Joan Holmberg at the SMU Chapel in Dallas, TX on August 14, 1954. He served in the Public Health Services through the U.S. Coast Guard in New London Connecticut as a Senior Assistant Surgeon for two years. Upon his discharge, the couple moved to Arlington, Texas where Dr. Dingwerth started his career as a general practice physician. He was a co- founder of Family Healthcare Associates and went on to care for his patients for thirty years, where he served as Chief of Staff at Arlington Memorial Hospital.

The couple had four daughters, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Frank was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for 74 years. He was an Eagle Scout, and earned a Four Bead Wood Badge Award, the Silver Beaver Award, the Silver Antelope Award, the National Service Award of the Order of the Arrow, and the James E. West Fellow Award. He attended twelve National Jamborees and multiple international Jamborees. He was an avid collector of Boy Scout patches. He was President of the Longhorn Council for two years and was instrumental in the creation of the Longhorn Council Historical Society.

Dr. Dingwerth accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1960. He later served as a Deacon or Elder over the next 26 years. He was a member of Pantego Bible Church, helped to found Park Springs Bible Church and later was a member of Grace Covenant Church. He was a founding Board member of The Shepherd’s Staff, Inc Conference and Retreat Center in Rexford, Kansas.

Frank is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joan Dingwerth, daughers Sherry Brown and husband Kent of Irving, TX, Susan Donnelly and husband Paul of Shawnee Oklahoma, Carol Mounce and husband Michael of North Port Florida, and Cathy Sultze and Stuart of Ukiah, California. Grandchildren: Tyler Brown of Dallas, Jessica Brown of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Sherrod Donnelly of Tulsa Oklahoma, Kelly Lehman, Mannheim, PA, Jillian Donnelly of Dallas, Brittany Da Silva of Shawnee, OK, Alex Zitfel of Roanoke, VA, Tara McLaughlin, of NY, NY, Janaya Sultze of N. Hollywood, CA, and Nathan Sultze of Austin, TX. Great Grandchildren include Henry, Oliver and Elise McLaughlin, Clio, Remy, and Beck Brown, James Lehman, Vivian Da Silva and Adrian and Ramona Zipfel.

Frank is preceded in death by parents Frank Christoper Dingwerth and Attie Riggs Sherrod.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Brown, Paul Donnelly, Michael Mounce, Stuart Sultze, Tyler Brown, Sherrod Donnelly, Nathan Sultze, and Alex Zipfel.

There will be a visitation service on Tuesday, July 18, at Wade Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

Funeral services for Dr. Frank Dingwerth will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at 10:00 AM at Grace Covenant Church at 3402 West Interstate 20 Service Road.
