In Loving Memory of Francis “Sonny” Bryan Pride
March 19, 1938 – November 14, 2023
Sonny Pride, affectionately known as “Sonny,” passed away peacefully on November 14, 2023, at the age of 85 surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 19, 1938, in Wheeler, Texas, Sonny was the cherished son of Lela Verndell and Morgan Edward Pride.
From a young age, Sonny exemplified a strong work ethic, which he carried throughout his life. After graduating from Wheeler High School, Sonny married the love of his life, Jeraldine Cox, on March 24, 1957. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love and warmth. Sonny and Jeraldine were blessed with four children – Ronnie, Rhonda, Rickey, and Randy.
Sonny dedicated 42 years of his life to serve the Texas and Oklahoma milk industry, working tirelessly to transport milk for local dairy farmers. He retired in 1998 from Associated Milk Producers Inc. Sonny was always a devoted family man, spending quality time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. As a proud Papa Sonny, he cherished his 13 incredible grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, that brought immeasurable joy and love into his life.
Sonny’s love for family extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His warm and welcoming personality made everyone feel like family whenever they were around him. Sonny was a man of faith who served diligently in various roles at Woods Chapel Baptist Church, where his unwavering devotion touched the lives of many.
Sonny possessed great character and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, love, and integrity will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. His passing leaves a void in the lives of his family and friends that cannot be filled.
Sonny is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeraldine, and his parents, Morgan and Lela Pride. He is survived by his children – Rhonda Dubois (Robert), Ronnie Pride (Lori), Rickey Pride (Shelly), and Randy Pride (Kari). He also leaves behind his sisters – Pat Banda, Peggy Campbell, Pam Pride – and his brother, Mickey Pride (Joyce). Sonny’s memory will continue to be carried on by his 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home and Crematory in Arlington, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Woods Chapel Baptist Church in Arlington, where we will gather to celebrate Sonny’s remarkable life. A Graveside Service will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Texas, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Jeraldine.
In honor of Sonny’s memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Woods Chapel building fund, a cause close to his heart.
Sonny’s departure from this world leaves us with a deep sense of loss, but his spirit will forever live on in our hearts. He will be remembered as a compassionate, loving, and highly respected individual who positively impacted the lives of all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
