ARLINGTON -- Foye Allene Walker, 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials: New Testament Baptist Church, 2203 Smith Barry Road, Pantego, Texas, 76013.
Foye was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Meridian to Juanita Hensley and Raymond Davis. She cherished the memories of growing up on the farm and always enjoyed going back to visit. She graduated from Iredell High School and moved to Fort Worth to attend business college. Foye married Harrol D. Walker on Dec. 17, 1943. After 69 years of marriage, Harrol predeceased Foye on Feb. 24, 2013.
Harrol and Foye owned and operated Walker's Garage in Fort Worth in the 1950s and '60s. They bought the Arlington Rental Yard and moved to Arlington in 1969. Foye especially enjoyed the years she spent working the counter and keeping books at the rental yard. She enjoyed the art of homemaking; she especially excelled at cooking and sewing. Foye took loving care of her family and her home. Harrol regularly brought people home for dinner, and Foye never failed to cook for them and make everyone feel welcome.
Over the years, Harrol and Foye were faithful members of several Baptist churches in Fort Worth and Arlington. Most importantly, Foye loved the Lord and His Word. She accepted Christ as her Savior at Birchman Ave Baptist Church in the 1950s. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at church functions and was known for her brisket and pies. For the last several years, she attended New Testament Baptist Church in Pantego.
A special thank you to Donnisha Bunting for providing exceptional compassionate and loving care to Foye.
Foye was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee Davis and Roy J. Davis, and sister, Bobbie Jean Stockham.
Survivors: Children, Don Walker (Carol), Roy Walker and Karen Whitehouse (Keith); grandchildren, Robert Walker (Carla), Michael Walker (Dana), Dustin McCaslin, Tyler McCaslin and Rachel Brenner (Brian); and six great-grandchildren.
