Florence Akinyi Orwa was born on July 15, 1965, in Nairobi, Kenya. She was the second born child to the late Japheth Magawi Opande and Filida Aoko Magawi Opande of Nyakach sub-county Kisumu county. She was the loving wife to Tom Kituka Orwa, and the beloved mother to Brandon Orwa and the lovely Chelsea Orwa. She was the sister to Beatrice Opande Agunda, the late Rose Pamela Auma Mollo, and Eric Cleophas Opande. She was the stepdaughter to Mama Margaret Opande, and the late Agnes Opande. She was also the stepsister to Jesica Opande, Collins Opande, and Jackline Opande. The sister-in-law to William Agunda, Meshack Mollo, Peter Orwa and Eunice Opande-Luchetu. She was the Auntie to Ruth Agunda, Moses Agunda, Leslie Agunda, Nicolas Mollo, Basil Mollo, Elianna Opande, Eli Opande, and Ella Opande.
Florence started her education at Maatin Luther Primary school in Nairobi where she studied up to standard three, and then transferred to Highridge Primary school where she proceeded with her education until she sat for her CPE. She later joined Ngara Girls where she sat for her O and A levels. She lastly got her bachelor’s in business at Mary-Hardin Baylor University. She then conquered working for American Airlines for thirty-two years. Where she made unbelievable lifelong friends and memories.
We all dream of having a wife, mother, sister, aunt, sister-in law or friend who is constantly kind, loving, and genuine. Florence Orwa was exactly that type of person. She guided and supported many people through the years during years of hardship, difficulty, joy, and achievement. She was the foundation of her family and without her, it’s difficult to know what to do or to imagine what will come next. One thing for sure is that she believed in Jesus Christ and held him close to heart. She was the epitome of a woman with class and grace. Florence fought a great battle and will be dearly missed by all. We love you Flo, thanks for always doing it YOUR way. Rest in peace!
