Evelyn Hinkle

August 7, 1928 — October 11, 2024

Evelyn Marie Holcomb Hinkle, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, entered into the arms of her Savior on October 11, 2024, She was born on August 7, 1928 in Asbury, West Virginia to Arbie Bernard and Maude Louise Holcomb.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Harold James Hinkle, and her son Alan James Hinkle. She is survived by her son Wayne Harold Hinkle and his wife Laurie Lea. Her legacy continues through her two granddaughters Kristin Marie McNiel and Karin Lea Perkins, and her five great grandchildren: Reagan McNiel, Aubrey Hopkins, Ayden Perkins, Maddyn McNiel and Kinley Perkins.

Evelyn grew up in a large family with siblings Olen Merl Holcomb, Helen Ruth Bailey, and Rita Faye Wilson, who have all passed, and is survived by her sister Carol Louise Morton.

Evelyn was a gentle soul whose greatest joy was family and friends. She loved cooking and serving others and expressed her gift through a lifetime of involvement in her church and community. She was a long-standing member of Bascom Methodist Church, Greenbrier County CEOS (Community Educational Outreach Service), and WVGAWC (Women's Coalition) of Rupert, WV.

Evelyn lived a life full of faith and conviction, continually upholding her family in prayer and never wavering in her commitment to the Lord. She will be remembered for her kindness, love and devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
