ARLINGTON -- Evelia Saenz Chapa, 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, in Fort Worth.
Funeral Mass: Noon Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, with the Rev. Thomas J. Craig, celebrant. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m., at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Evelia was born on June 29, 1930, in Anna Rose to Tomas Maria Saenz and Filomena Weston Saenz. She was a longtime resident of Arlington and very active in her church. Evelia loved to dance and was an avid sports fan. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers and would never miss a game.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ruben Eckols; and granddaughter, Angela Reyna.
Survivors: Son, Rene Eckols and wife, Maria; daughters, Lucila Reyna, Velma Stradford and husband, Carlos, Linda Staley and husband, Bill, Blanca Sanchez and husband, Ernest; brother, Tomas Saenz and wife, Thelma; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
