Evadna Caroline Worley

On October 26, 2022, Evadna Caroline Worley, a servant of God, passed away at age sixty-eight. Born in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Theo Alan (T.A.) and Mary Latch on September 10, 1954, Caroline (Latch) married Mark Worley before graduating from Dallas Christian College with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature and Bible. She also earned a Master of Arts in Literature and Education from the University of Texas Permian Basin and did Post Graduate work at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). Caroline’s love for learning and her desire to help others become lifelong learners was at the forefront of all she accomplished for God. After graduation from DCC, Caroline created a Mother’s Day Out program at First Christian Church in Midland, Texas, where Mark was the Youth Minister. Caroline also co-developed and taught at Heritage Preschool in Midland, Texas, before moving back to Dallas and teaching as a Kindergarten teacher at Heritage Christian Academy, located on the campus of Dallas Christian College.

In 1986 Caroline became a teacher and administrator at Carrollton Christian Academy. While at Carrollton Christian Academy, her impact on the entire student body was profound. While at CCA, she taught Pre-K, Kindergarten, Art (K-12), and Generic Special Education (Resource Center). Over the years, Caroline also wore many administration hats at CCA: Academic Dean, Texas State Certification Officer, ACSI Certification Officer, SACS Accreditation Coordinator, Curriculum Director (Pre-K to 12), Early Childhood Director, Resource Center Director, and many others. No matter what title Caroline held, all knew her love for her students and fellow teachers because of her encouragement, patience, joy, and acts of service to all.

While Caroline’s career at CCA began, she also joined the Dallas Christian College faculty in 1986. During her overall combined service of almost 40 years, she served as a teacher, advisor, ACCESS Coordinator, Teacher Certification Officer, TEA Liaison, ACSI Liaison, and completed her service as Professor of Education and Chair of the E.L. and Sue Derr Department of Teacher Education. Caroline’s impact is felt far beyond that of her official positions. She invested immense time and energy into her students, especially those preparing to be salt and light in the field of education. She truly believed that one of the most significant areas of Kingdom impact occurs through committed Christian teachers in public and private schools and schools across the globe. Thousands of students have undoubtedly experienced the love of Christ through the teachers she prepared.

Caroline had many accomplishments throughout her life, but her most significant achievement was always keeping Jesus Christ first in all aspects of her life. Her relationship with God could be seen in how she raised her family. Caroline was a partner with Mark in marriage and ministry for 48 years, all while being an exemplary example of a Proverbs 31 woman.  She was a virtuous, strong, and selfless servant to everyone she was around. Caroline’s legacy of Love for God and love for family is seen in her children Kyle (Hope) Worley, Zachary (Ashley) Worley, and Aimee (Mark) Phillips; grandchildren: Jordan (Taylor), Elli, Theo, and Annabelle Worley; Mollie, Lincoln, Milo, and Ruthie Worley; Brian and Timothy Phillips, and great-grandchild: Hazleigh Worley.
