ARLINGTON -- Eugene Hampton, 90, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013, in Fort Worth.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, with Monsignor Francis Boakye Tawiah, celebrant. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday with a vigil at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Eugene was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Duval Thomas Hampton and Elizabeth Simell Hampton. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. A longtime resident of Arlington, he was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Eugene worked at Menasco Engineering for 30 years prior to retiring as an engineer from Vought. He enjoyed crafting airplanes out of soda cans.
Eugene was preceded in death by his daughter, Ginger Hampton Edgerton, and grandson, Stephen Appelman, in 2008.
Survivors: Beloved wife, Virginia Hampton; sons, James Eugene Hampton and wife, Patsy, John Joseph Hampton and wife, Janet; daughters, Diane Appelman and Patricia Mary Bassett; grandchildren, Kelly Harris, Travis Bassett, Stacey Bassett, Cory Bassett, Dustin Bassett; great-grandson, Derek Bassett.
