Eugene Flores Tristan, 62, passed away peacefully at home with family on Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 7617 Cortland Ave., Dallas. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with rosary starting at 7 p.m. Eugene was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Salomon Tristan Pena and Maria Guadalupe Flores. They moved to Texas when Eugene was 3 and he went on to graduate North Dallas High School and later graduated from Southern Methodist University cum laude with honors. Known by many as "Big Gene," he spent his career as the sole owner and operator of Dallas Signs and Neon since 1970. He was happiest when he was outside by the barbecue surrounded by his family and pets as he was a true lover of animals. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert Flores Tristan. Survivors: Wife, Christina Peterson; former wife, Patricia J. Thomas; sons, Eugene T. Tristan and Andrew F.
