Ernest Rue Mann

Ernest Rue Mann, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.
Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington.
Ernest was born on February 20, 1933 in Decatur, Texas to Robert Jay Mann Sr. and Rosa May Laird Mann. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1950. He married the love of his life, Margaret Faye McSpadden on October 5, 1951. They were married 71 years and were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters. Ernest finished his bachelor degree in Business Administration from Southeastern State College. Ernest retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service working as an aircraft mechanic. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War working as a Master Sargent. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics.
Ernest enjoyed flying and received his private pilots license. Ernest enjoyed working outside and in his garden. He enjoyed listening to Neil Sperry on the radio. He loved traveling and seeing different parts of the world. He enjoyed going on vacations with his family and friends to Alaska, Hawaii and Branson, Missouri. Ernest was a Deacon at his church, Meadow Lane Baptist Church. He was very easy going and enjoyed listening to country music. He especially enjoyed listening to the Statler Brothers and Oakridge Boys.
Ernest was a great dad and husband. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed doting on them. He enjoyed talking about flying and flying with his grandchildren. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survivors: Loving wife, Margaret; daughter, Vicki and husband, David; 3 grandsons and their wives, Michael & Mary Stephens, Craig & Courtney Stephens, and Grant & Ilse Stephens; and 5 great-grandchildren, Austin, Charley, Cooper, Nohemy, and Mila.
