Elizabeth Massey walked into the arms of God on October 26, 2023.
Liz was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. Her deep Christian faith was a bright light that radiated from within, giving her strength and courage to endure many health-related hardships over the past few decades while also caring for her family and greeting everyone she met with her beautiful smile.
“Sweet Liz” was born on January 28, 1956, in Houston, Texas. Liz was a talented pianist and singer from an early age. She was active in musical theater and had starring roles in plays at the Alley Theatre in Houston and in community theatre in Conroe, Texas. She performed many church solos and in Christmas pageants at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
Liz’s partner in life was her husband Stevan, her high school sweetheart from Conroe High School. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Liz cherished spending time with her family: children April, Alan, and Aaron; daughter-in-law Becky; grandchildren Caroline, Brendan, and Jack; and sisters Annette and Maria.
In addition to her family, Liz was devoted to her the ministries at Lake Church, leading women’s Bible study groups and mentoring countless women.
In life and death, Liz demonstrated incredible resilience. She faced never-ending health challenges with a positive attitude and endurance. She trusted fully that God would care for her and those she loved, and she was an example of pure courage to decide to walk into God’s arms when he called her.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home, Arlington, TX.
