Eleanor Sophia Wallace

September 1, 1933 — May 5, 2023

Eleanor Sophia Wallace, 89, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023, in Crowley, Texas. Eleanor was born September 1, 1933, to Stanley and Wanda Kania in New York Mills, New York. She lived her earlier life in New York where she met her future husband Harmon Gerald Wallace. When Gerald asked for her hand in marriage, he presented her with a paper ring off a cigar and promised later to replace it with a real one. She responded, “not a chance!” He was stationed in New York with the United States Air Force where he swept her off her feet. They were married on May 24, 1952, at Saint Luke Memorial Church. They moved to Texas and lived there for almost seventy years. Eleanor shared two half-sisters and three half-brothers. She was kind with a good sense of humor and embraced a deep faith with God. She was proud of her Polish heritage. Eleanor was the consummate homemaker. She was known for her cooking and cake decorating. Eleanor was very artistic and enjoyed painting. She is survived by her son and his wife Gerald and Sharon Wallace and two daughters Deborah Canedy and Patricia Wallace. She was known as Mimi and had five grandchildren and numerous great, and great-great grandchildren.

It was fitting that she died on Cinco de Mayo…enjoy your puffy taco!
