Elaine Janice Schaller

Elaine Janice Edwards Schaller, 76, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at her home in Arlington after a 5 ½ year battle with breast cancer. Visitation will be Friday, April 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home: 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. The funeral Mass will be Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish: 1927 S.W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington followed by interment at Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Please join the family for a luncheon afterwards at the home of John and Mandy Parker. Memorials: If you would like to donate in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) at https://www.focus.org/give/ways-to-give Elaine was born on April 24, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Jack “Doc” Edwards and Marjorie Marie Thurber. She graduated from South Side High School in 1962. She then attended Indiana University. While she was a student there, she met her husband Bill who was attending Purdue University. They were married in 1966. They later moved to Arlington to open their own business, Athletic Attic, in 1978. They opened several additional locations over the years before selling them in 1996. During that time Elaine was involved in Bible studies and played in a tennis league. Bill and Elaine retired to Athens, TX in 1998 to enjoy lake living. Elaine returned to Arlington in 2015 to be closer to family. During retirement, Elaine enjoyed many hobbies including golf, pickleball, canasta, and painting. She continued to participate in Bible study and book clubs. Elaine's most important accomplishment was her family. She always made special time to spend with each of her four grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She was blessed to meet her first great grandson before her passing. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Bill. Survivors: Son, Dustin Schaller; daughter, Mandy Parker and husband, John; sisters, Marijo Koval, Susie Edwards, and Gwen Yeager; grandchildren, Audrey Shipley and husband, Hanner, Ellie Parker, Nolan Parker, and Macie Parker; great-grandchild, Parker Shipley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
