ARLINGTON -- Edward Sherwood Vennum, 94, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, in Irving.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Quentin Vennum and Judge Roy Kurban officiating. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Randy Back, Jim Jared, Bob Gonzales, Cale Vennum, Drew Vennum, Eddie Vennum.

Edward was born in Oak Park, Ill., on Sept. 2, 1918, to Ralph Edward Vennum and Daisy Sherwood Vennum. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. A longtime Arlington resident, he was a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a bachelor's in Greek and economics and a master's in theology. He attended Wheaton College where he was a classmate of Billy and Ruth Graham. Edward retired from LTV as the chief of communications after 36 years of service.
He was married to his beloved wife, Marian, for 70 years prior to her death in October 2011.
Survivors: Sons, Quentin E. Vennum and wife, Eileen, Tom Vennum and wife, Tsui Mei Chin, Jerry Vennum and wife, Sue; daughter, Alice Schear and husband, Larry; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
