Edward “Ray†Cantrell, 65, was born to Travis and the late Mary Evelyn Cantrell on January 30, 1949. Ray grew up in the Arlington area along with his two younger brothers, Gene and Jerry and one younger sister, Cindy. He graduated from Arlington High School (Class of 1967) and obtained an accounting degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. During which time, he married Glenda Oliver. Ray and Glenda were blessed with their children, Robert and Jennifer. In time, the joy of grandchildren followed – Cole, Haylee, Cade and Ava.
Ray’s employment journey included General Motors, Cantrell Supply and for the past several years, Crossroads Christian Church in Grand Prairie, Texas where he served as Food Service Director and Facilities.
Ray’s joy in life was being involved with all his family’s activities. You would always find him on the sidelines – taking pictures of course – cheering, mentoring, and encouraging them in all aspects. He was not only Dad and Papa, he was their everything.
Ray has left a huge footprint and legacy that centered around his Christian core values and beliefs of servitude. We his family, extended family, life-long friends, co-workers and those that he met in his daily walk will be forever blessed by his love and acts of kindness.
