Edward Lee Slaughter

August 14, 1947 — May 2, 2023

Edward Lee Slaughter (best known as “Edd”) of Arlington, Texas passed away from congestive heart failure on May 2, 2023 at Medical City Arlington surrounded by family. He was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on August 14, 1947 to Jess & Betty Slaughter & was the oldest of 7 children. Edd graduated in 1965 from Campus High School in Wichita, Kansas where he played basketball, football, & baseball. Edd had one biological daughter, Angela, who was born in 1970. He was a former minister of the Assemblies of God in his early years. Most currently, he served as a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Edd’s grandkids (Kaylee, Kendall, Mikayla, Travis, & Paul IV) knew him best as “Poppa”. His greatest pride & joy was supporting them in all of their sporting events or life’s endeavors. His passion was working in construction where he built homes for several different construction companies. One of the greatest memories that his grandchildren had was of him building their childhood homes. Edd never met a stranger; he was friendly, silly, & loved to make others laugh. A common nickname given to him was “Trouble”.

Edd loved playing & watching sports, eating hotdogs at every baseball game, woodworking, singing to the “Oldies” music, enjoying summer music nights at Levitt Pavilion, spending time with family, & traveling to Slaughter reunions every 2 years. Being from Arkansas, he was a diehard Razorback fan; he had the hog hat, fan gear, and memorabilia to prove it. Edd was a hard worker with a servant’s heart.

Edward Lee is preceded in death by his parents (Jess & Betty Slaughter), his brother (Randy), & sister (Betty Lou).

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Worlow (spouse – Paul III); his stepchildren, Tina Wood & Marc Meche; his 5 grandkids, Kaylee Prince (spouse – Austin), Kendall Wood, Mikayla Robeson (spouse – RJ), Travis Wood, & Paul Worlow IV; his great-granddaughter, Adaline Gray Prince; his life companion of 14 years, Tina Plunkett; his siblings, Lynn, Roger, Kenny, & Marlene; and many loving nieces and nephews.
