Edna Marie Taylor Thornsberry, 96, devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Arlington, Texas.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio. Visitation: 12-1 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the No Mason Left Behind Project of the Texas Masonic Retirement Center.
Edna was born on Nov 22, 1924 in San Angelo, Texas to Archie Dennis Taylor and Marie Cecil Williams. She attended Abilene Christian University. Edna married Marion Edward Thornsberry, originally from DuQuoin, Illinois, on January 28, 1959 in San Angelo two weeks after they met. A longtime resident of San Antonio, she was employed until her retirement by the Department of Defense. Edna also resided in Washington, DC and Germany during her civilian career. She became an Arlington resident 15 years ago.
She was a Past Secretary and Worthy Matron of the Wimodausis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star; and Past Queen of the Nekodah Temple of the Daughters of the Nile.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, M.E. Thornsberry on April 18, 2008; and daughter, Nannette Marie Graves Benner (Davie).
Survivors: Son, Stephen Drew Thornsberry (Shawn) of Kenmore, Washington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
