ARLINGTON -- Edith Joyce Martin, 83, passed away with her husband by her side on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, in Arlington.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, 6102 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington. Interment: Annetta Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Joyce was born on Oct. 1, 1928, in Weatherford to Don Britton and Blanche King Britton. She was a resident of Arlington since 1979 and member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. She was an amazing woman with a heart of gold, infinitely wise, and touched many lives in the absolute best way. She taught others through her actions that often times the smallest actions are the most important.
She led a great life and touched many through her kind words and compassionate heart. In 1950 she married Ed Martin and moved to Dallas, where they ran an industrial controls business while raising their children, Gayle, Joy and Judy.
Joyce loved visiting with family and friends, playing cards, and taking drives through the country with her husband, Ed. In her youth she was an avid bowler and spent many entertaining nights listening to her husband's country and western band with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Gayle Lawson, on Sept. 17, 2005.
Survivors: Husband of 62 years, Ed Martin; children, Randy Lawson (Sherry), Joy Litke (Gene), Judy Atkin (Gerald); grandchildren, Lance Lawson, Jennifer Lawson, Brooke Yates (Rob), Kurt Litke (Carolyn), Geoffrey Litke, Jessica Teuscher (Tom), Jeri Shelton (Joe Adams), Valerie Glenn (Joey); great-grandchildren, Brittany Lawson, Holliday Lawson, Laurelei Litke, Lilliana Litke, Makaria Litke, Elliott Yates, James Yates; and numerous other family members and friends.
