Duane Owen Juvrud

On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Duane Owen Juvrud passed away with his family beside him in Arlington, Texas. He was 83 years old. Duane was born on November 27, 1934 in Devil's Lake, North Dakota. He was the only child of Owen Sylvester and Vienna Honkola Juvrud. Duane was a graduate of Fabens High School, where he was the Valedictorian. He entered Texas Western College of the University of Texas (UTEP) at the age of sixteen. In 1954, he received a business degree from Texas Western (UTEP), where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, Alpha Phi Omega, the Drama Club and president of Alph Phi Omega. Duane graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1956. He was the youngest graduate in his class. Duane and Patsy, his wife of almost 65 years, resided in El Paso, Texas. They were faithful members of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Duane was a practicing attorney in El Paso for over sixty years. Duane was a member of the El Paso Probate Bar, El Paso Bar Association, Downtown Lions' Club, Delta Sigma Business Fraternity, Men of Mines and an officer of the Estate Planning Counsel and a former officer of the Chancellor's Committee at the University of Texas at Austin. Duane was a long time academic and athletic supporter of the UTEP Miners and the Texas Longhorns. For over 50 years, he was a Longhorn football season ticket holder and a Miner basketball and football season ticket holder. Duane served as the chairman of the Dinner with Miners fundraiser multiple times. Duane is survived by his wife, Patsy Ruth Broiles Juvrud, the love of his life, four children, Kathleen Andis (Dan), William, Mark (Brenda) and Jill Juvrud; five grandchildren, Patrick Andis (Kasey), Danielle Adams (Chad), Amanda Pleming (Chase), Molly and Joseph-Tyler Juvrud; and five great grandchildren, Kathleen and Cullen Adams, James and Luke Andis, and Everett Pleming. The family was all together in Arlington for a celebration of Duane's beautiful spirit being embraced by the love for all eternity of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity closest to your heart.
