ARLINGTON -- Dr. Richard Earl Morris, 83, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.
Service: A celebration of life service in his memory will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Arlington, 301 S. Center St., Arlington, with Dr. Dennis Wiles, Dr. Charles Wade, Tillie Burgin and Bob Fuston officiating.
Honorary pallbearers: First Baptist Church of Arlington Fellowship Department and the Deacons Council.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Mission Arlington, American Cancer Society, Education Foundation, and The Humane Society of the United States.
Richard was born in Woodward, Okla., to Winfield Scott and Sylvia Caroline Morris on Sept. 25, 1931. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1949, and joined the Air Force in 1950. In 1955, he enrolled into Oklahoma University as a pre-dental student. He graduated in the spring of 1963 from Oklahoma University School of Medicine. Richard interned at Dallas Methodist Hospital in July 1963. He started his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1964, in the anesthesia department. He joined the Anesthesiology Association of Arlington in 1967. Richard received his board certification in 1970. In 1972, he returned to Parkland Memorial as an associate professor and was the head of anesthesiology for the burn unit. A year later, he became the chief of anesthesiology unit at Dallas Children's Hospital. In 1984, he returned to Arlington to private practice with the Anesthesiology Association of Arlington. In January 2007, he retired.
Richard's parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors: Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ann Morris; his three daughters, Janna Morris, Shelly Beasecker and Tami Morris; five grandchildren, S. Christopher Shipe, Jaquelyne Shipe, Garrett Elliott, Richard Beasecker and Mitchell Beasecker; his sister, Opal Dunsworth; and two nephews.
