Doyle Wayne Malone, 89, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 1200 S. Collins Street, Arlington. Interment: Hawkins Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: Monday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.

Doyle was born in Plainview, Texas, on June 6, 1928, to Robert Clinton and Bessie (May) Malone and was the sixth of nine siblings. He graduated from Plainview High School then furthered his education on a scholarship to TCU where he lettered in golf and football, playing for Coach Dutch Meyer. During his playing career at TCU, he played in the Delta Bowl. TCU teammates include Lindy Berry, Carl Knox, Dave Bloxom, and Morris Bailey. Opposing players include Tom Landry at Texas and Doak Walker at SMU. While at TCU, he met Jeanne Webb and later took her as his bride. Doyle served in the U.S. Navy. After graduating, he coached at Childress and later at Arlington High School under the direction of Coach Mayfield “Bull” Workman. He also served as a school administrator at Ferguson JH, Lamar HS, and was the first principal of the original Bowie HS in Arlington ISD. For fifteen summers, he managed Arlington city pools, mainly Randol Mill Swimming Pool. Doyle was an avid golfer and long-time member of Shady Valley Country Club. He was a devoted Horned Frog Fan, and a member of the TCU Ex-Letterman's Club. He also served as President of the TCU Quinq Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and taught the Friendship Sunday School Class. He also attended and led Monday Night Mens' Bible Study Fellowship classes.
Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Clinton and Bessie May Malone; sisters, Lucille Wolfe Bailey, Evelyn Wood and Lecia Carrol; brother, Orba Lee, R.C., Jr., Dawson and Bill
Survivors: His beautiful wife of just 5 days shy of 67 years, Jeanne Webb Malone; daughters, Susan Malone, Nancy Brown and husband Gerald; grandsons, Kyle Brown and wife Leah, Chase Brown and wife Krista and their son, Parker Malone Brown; sister, Ann Chaddick; and numerous nieces and nephews.
