Douglas Blackwell, born October 12, 1941 in Minden, Louisiana, passed away on August 20, 2022 in Arlington, Texas at 80 years of age. Raised in Jefferson, Texas and Keene, Texas.
He met the love of his life, Gail Dowden, and married in 1959. They were married for almost 61 years at the time of her death in 2020. He had three daughters, one granddaughter and one grandson, and three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
He enjoyed working on cars, doing woodwork and model cars, leatherworking. He insisted on a Christian education for his children and instilled a strong work ethic in them. He enjoyed being on his property in Berea, Texas.
He was a member of the Grand Prairie Seventh-day Adventist Church and was well known and loved by all. He had a special spot for all babies and children.
He is predeceased by his wife, Gail Dowden Blackwell and brother, Dwight Blackwell.
He is survived by his daughters: Debra Webb of Arlington, Texas; Carmen Blackwell of Arlington, Texas; Barbra Blackwell of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Amanda (Tony) Maldonado of Austin, Texas; grandson Danny (Lisa) Blackwell of Benbrook, Texas; and great grandchildren Murphy and Meave Maldonado; Olivia and Harper Rose Blackwell. Also survived by sister, Karan Fugler of Marshall, Texas. He had several nieces and nephews.
