Douglas Wade Doyle

February 25, 1955 — March 3, 2018

Douglas Wade Doyle “Doug” was born February 25, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. At a young age his family moved to Arlington and lived here ever since. He was a boy like any other until age 15. When he was 15 he was diagnosed with cancer. Through God's providence and the skillful work of doctors he conquered that first bout with cancer. Doug would graduate from Sam Houston High School in 1973 and graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington with a BA in accounting in 1977. He would however take a job at General Motors and worked for the company for 36 years. On May 20, 1978 Doug married Sharon Doyle at Highland Baptist Church in Arlington. They were happily married for almost 40 years. In 1991 they had their one son, Michael. Doug was defined by his love for his family and his devotion to protecting, providing, and caring for them. In 2004 Doug had a second bout with cancer and again conquered it. But by 2010 the radiation from his fight with cancer in 1970 led to heart problems. He had one surgery in 2010 and another in 2018 to try and repair his heart, but ultimately his heart gave out on March 3, 2018. Outside his family, Doug's passions included analyzing numbers, poker, and skeet shooting. Doug was a proud member of the Grand Prairie Gun Club and in one poker tournament at WinStar Casino in 2012 placed 9th out of 779 entrants. Doug believed in his Lord Jesus. He knew that Jesus' work on the cross was sufficient to pay for all of his sins. He instilled this belief in his family. Doug's love for numbers made him fond of ‘bottom lines'. He viewed the ‘bottom line' of the Bible as Revelation 20:15 “And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Doug lived a life honoring Jesus with the hope that his life would show people the love that Jesus offers, where death has no sting, only joy.
