Dorothy Mary Hagan

January 20, 1922 — May 12, 2014

Dorothy "Dottie" Mary Ferguson Hagan, 92, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 12, 2014. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1441 N.E. Englewood Rd., Kansas City, Mo. 64118. Dottie was born on January 20, 1922 in Fairfield, Michigan to Floyd and Myrtle Ferguson. In 1942, she moved to Mineral Wells, Texas to work at Fort Wolters, where she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Hagan. They lived in many places, finally settling in Kansas City, Missouri. Tom and Dottie were active members of Northminster Presbyterian Church and the KC community. They enjoyed entertaining friends with dinners and cards, dining, shopping, theatre and music in Kansas City. They loved to dance, and she and Tom gave their grandchildren the rare gift of witnessing the love and fun in a marriage of more than 60 years as they danced the night away at weddings. Dottie appreciated the Victorian age and was an avid collector of poetry, furniture, art and decor from that period. While in KC, Dottie worked in retail, both small boutiques and large department stores. Her taste was exquisite in dress and accessories, as well as floral arrangements. Dottie was vibrant, gracious and kind, with a delightful sense of humor. She and three nieces, Syncopations Sisters', laughed and charmed their way to first place awards at the Scott Joplin Festival in rhyming skits, period costumes and dance. After her husband's death in 2011, Dottie moved to Fort Worth to be near family. She enjoyed every moment of life, welcoming and loving all. She and her beloved Tom made a lasting impression on all they met. Dottie was preceded in death by her infant son, Patrick; her son, Michael; and husband, Tom. Survivors: She is survived and deeply missed by her son, Dr. Russ Hagan and wife, Charlee; dear sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances Marquess; grandchildren, Carrie Sinosic, Jacqueline Hagan, Elizabeth McLain, Captain Morgan Smyth, USMC; and six great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews, grand and great; as well as friends will miss her humor, grace and sweet nature.
