Dorothy Raney Anderson of Grand Prairie passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, January 1, 2020 after a lengthy illness.
Services: Please join us for a Celebration of Life service to be held Jan 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at The Woods United Methodist Church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, The American Cancer Society or The Woods United Methodist Church.
Dot was born in Grenada, MS and grew up in Shreveport, LA. She attended college at the University of Louisiana at Monroe where she was the newspaper Editor and was named Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. While there, she met the love of her life Lance D. Anderson, a student photographer, and they married in 1972. The Andersons lived in Monroe, LA, and Baton Rouge, LA before moving to Grand Prairie, TX in 1987.
Beloved wife and mother, Dot also prided herself with having a successful career in marketing and public relations. She served as a Copywriter, Creative Director, Marketing Director, Corporate Communications Director, and Vice President of Corporate Communications. In retirement she became a consultant and opened Cassidee Jane, a small women's boutique at Gracie Lane in Arlington, TX. Other enjoyable hobbies were making jewelry and keeping up with the latest fashion trends. She was an avid researcher, which led to a passion for genealogy. Dot was a member of Clan Donald and the Cowtown Scottish Society.
Dot is preceded in death by her mother, Thelma C. Raney and her father, James W. Raney.
Survivors: Dot is survived by her husband, Lance Anderson; her daughter, April Anderson Pettitt and her husband, Chris Pettitt; her son, Drew Anderson and partner, Jessica Wagner; and granddaughter, Cassidee Pettitt; and all of these she loved and touched deeply.
