Dorothy Mae Smotherman

Dorothy Mae Sellers Smotherman, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Arlington. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, at Rush Creek Christian Church, 2401 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington with Dr. Chris Wilson officiating. Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, at Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Dorothy was born on October 27, 1924 in Fort Worth to Foy Wade Sellers and Ruby Hamilton Sellers. She was educated in the FWISD, TCU, TWC and studied many years at the FW Conservatory of Music. Dorothy married J. Don Smotherman in 1942; he preceded her in death in 1997. Dorothy presented “Journey to Christmas” and hosted “Texas Living” from 1954-1957. While living in Mississippi, she taught voice at Moorehead Jr. College. She served as State President of Church Women United in Oklahoma and State CW7 President. Survivors: Son, Thad A.
