Mrs. Dorothy "Dottie" Lea Williams

May 15, 1946 — April 13, 2024

Dorothy “Dottie” Lea (Bobb) Williams, wife of Allan “Gregg” Williams, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024, surrounded by her husband, son, and daughters. Dottie and Gregg celebrated 55 years of marriage, had two children, and nine grandchildren. She was 77 years old.

Dottie was born on May 15, 1946, to Leo Bernard Bobb, Jr., and Dorothy Twiford Bobb. She grew up in Houston, Texas, in a neighborhood shared with grandparents and cousins. Dottie was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, serving as Worthy Advisor. After graduating from Milby High School, she attended Lamar University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority.

Dottie married her high school prom date, Gregg, on August 17, 1968. They traveled across Texas and Louisiana before settling in Arlington, where Dottie taught 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades at Sherrod Elementary. She was a source of positive encouragement for hundreds of children, being selected as Sherrod’s Teacher of the Year in 2005.

Dottie was a dedicated mother who tirelessly supported her two children, Brandon, and Kendra. She played duets at piano recitals and proudly attended all of their sporting events, award ceremonies, and band concerts. Dottie served as PTA president at Butler Elementary and organized fundraising for the Lamar High School Band Booster Club. Later, Dottie became “Grammie” to her nine grandchildren and was happiest in a house full of their laughter. She would drop everything for her grandchildren and often spoiled them with sugary drinks, ice cream sandwiches, and drumsticks.

Dottie and Gregg attended Central (formerly Pantego) Bible Church where Dottie served in the children’s ministry, nursery, and as Women’s Ministry Coordinator. Together, Dottie and Gregg shepherded the NorthStar Community Group for over 25 years. Dottie was active in women’s leadership for Bible Study Fellowship and as a delivery driver for Meals on Wheels. She regularly volunteered at Mission Arlington and rang the bell for the Salvation Army before Christmas.

As a native Texan, Dottie indulged in all things Texas. She loved bluebonnets and watermelon as her birthday “cake.” Road trips were enjoyed for the colorful spray of wildflowers that bloomed along the highways. Dottie even sewed separate T-shirts from The University of Texas and Texas A&M University into a single shirt to equally support the rival colleges her children.

Dottie is survived by her husband, Gregg; son, Brandon and daughter-in-law, Jamyn; daughter, Kendra Wililiams-Diehm and son-in-law, Brian; grandchildren, Abigail, Colin, Wade Williams, and Kailey, Benson, Bennett, Benjamin, Beniah, and Bentley Diehm; sister Betty and her husband, Fred Strauss; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends, all of whom loved her deeply.
Dottie lived her life for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She showed His love through her quiet compassion and service, exemplifying Galatians 5:13: “You, my brothers, and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom for yourselves; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” She would like to wish each of you a blessed day.
