Pantego – Donna Sue Zimmerman, 82, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, in Arlington.
Funeral: The family had a private visitation on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Per Donna’s wishes, no public funeral or memorial service was held.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Brighter Tomorrows of Irving, Texas, Home Rescue of Arlington, Texas or the Frost Volunteer Fire Department in Frost, Texas.
Donna was born on May 7, 1939, in Parsons, Kansas, to Harold Earl Edwards and Edith Lourene Edwards. She met the love of her life, John Zimmerman, during her senior year of high school and married him on June 9, 1957 in Parsons, Kansas. The couple moved around several times following John’s job opportunities before settling in Pantego, Texas in 1967. Donna was a housewife and worked as a hairdresser after her three daughters were all in school. Donna loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a foodie who enjoyed dining out with her family and friends at new restaurants. Her husband, John, passed away on December 7, 2013. Donna filled her time after this loss following politics, tending her garden, resisting computer technology and keeping up with her daughters and their families. She loved her family with everything she had. Many acquaintances remember her as being feisty and spirited.
Survivors: Donna was the beloved Mom of three daughters, Cynthia Lou Jackson (husband Billy), Melissa Gaye Levesque (husband Steven) and Tamera Kay Reed (husband Marcus), brother Jim Edwards (wife Susan) and sister Judy Smith, and grandchildren, Kendall McKnight (husband Richard), Mathew Heideman (wife Layken), Hillary Griffin (husband Dane), Jared Levesque and Addison Leigh Reed. Donna was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly.
