Donna Dean Stone

Donna Dean Stone, 93, of Atria Lake Arlington, Arlington, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2018. Memorial Service: will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Fielder Church in Arlington, Texas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army in her name. She was born at 6:00 AM in a “little red house” just north of Violet in Polk County, Missouri, July 17, 1925 to Warren Edwards Lockhart and Artie Zelean Lockhart. Donna graduated from Humansville High School, Humansville, Missouri in 1944. She was married to Thurman Lee Stone on February 18, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. She was a stay-at-home mom until her son went to Junior High. She worked at a clerical position for the Food Services Department at Lee's Summit Senior High School in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She attended First Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, and sang in the choir. In 1981 she and her husband, Thurman, retired and moved to Hermitage, Missouri on Lake Pomme de Terre. They enjoyed fishing, travel in their RV, visits from their grandchildren, and they helped build the new Methodist church in Hermitage. Hermitage is where she started painting. She loved nature and made many oil paintings and water colors of the local surroundings, as well as scenes from one of her favorite states, New Mexico. She loved her Scotty and Cairn Terriers, English Setters, and her favorite bird was the Cardinal. During the mid-90's Thurman and she moved into the Methodist retirement community in Marionville, Missouri where she again became active in the local Methodist church choir and Methodist women's groups. They continued to travel in their RV until Thurman could no longer drive. After Thurman went to be with the Lord in 2010 she moved to Arlington, Texas where she lived until her passing. She loved her family, which by then had grown to include four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by: Thurman L. Stone – husband; Dayle Lockhart – brother; Warren E. Lockhart – father; A. Zelean Lockhart – mother. Survivors: She is survived by her son: Jon Warren, and daughter-in-law, Lyn, of Pantego, Texas; her granddaughter, Erin Logan, grandson-in-law, Marcus Logan, great-grandson, Gabriel Logan, and great-granddaughter, Sarah Logan of Prosper, Texas; her granddaughter, Lauren Riall, grandson-in-law, Russell Riall, great-granddaughter, Ellison Riall, and great-grandson, Elijah Riall of Arlington, Texas; her cousins, Wanda Bayer, Juanita Ullom, Betty Sadler, Faye Coffman, and Cleo Lockhart of California.
