ARLINGTON -- Donald Heartsill Carpenter, 77, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Arlington.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1400 S. Cooper Street, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12 Noon -2 p.m. Saturday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.

Originally from Marshall, TX he lived in the DFW area for 40 years. Don was a graduate of Marshall High School and Panola College. After college, he became a member of the Army National Guard and worked at National Cash Register, Inc. for 35 years before retiring as District Manager in 1995. Don was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church and after retiring served as a volunteer at Medical Center of Arlington. He was loved by many for his sense of humor, sharp wit and genuine kindness. An avid sports fan, Don loved to play golf and spent many years as the third-baseman and eventual pitcher for the church's competitive league. When he wasn't on the golf course or softball field, Don loved to spend time fishing on Caddo Lake and his sharp-shooting skills earned him the title of “Best Duck Hunter on Caddo Lake” He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Modena; and his sister, Alise Brady.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beverly; son, David and wife, Andi; daughter, Amy Powers and husband, Patrick; brother, Butch; sister, Jimmie Dean Van Norden; grandchildren, Alma, Amberley, Jackson and Reagan; great-grandchildren, Miranda, A.J. and Brantley.
