ARLINGTON -- Donald John Eigel Jr., 78, joined the Lord on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Arlington. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, with the Rev. Brenda Beaver officiating. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Don's church or the American Heart Association. Don was born Sep. 1, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., to Donald and Dorothy Eigel. He served in the Marine Air Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a business degree. Don was a resident of Arlington for over 40 years and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Don spent his career in the aerospace and aviation industry. He retained his interest in the space program and flight his entire life. He retired from Raytheon in 1999. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, spending time family and friends, and was an avid reader. Survivors: His loving wife of 56 years, Virginia "Ginny" Eigel; sons, Mike and David; daughter, Cathy Brown; grandchildren, Jeff, Bryan, Lacey, John and Abby; sister, Norma Pemberton; and brother, Lawrence Eigel.
