CHICAGO, ILL. -- Derek Franklin Hughel, 36 passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, in Chicago, Ill. Memorial service: A private service will be held at a later date in Chicago. Derek was born Oct. 7, 1980 in Indianapolis, Ind., and was baptized on Jan. 19, 1997. He was an avid bird watcher and Cubs fan. He enjoyed reading and architecture. Survivors: Father, Ray Hughel and wife, Vicki, of Arlington; mother, Kathryn Fleming and husband, Eric; brothers, Evan Hughel and wife, Lauren, Tristan Hughel, and Austin Head and wife, Kaley; niece, Kinsley Head; longtime friend, Helen Ulloa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
