Dennis R. Demers, 59, passed away on April 28, 2017.
Services: A visitation will be held Sunday, May 7, from 3-5 p.m. at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. A celebration of his life will be held 12:00 noon Monday, May 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday at 2:15 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dennis' name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
Dennis was born on February 19, 1958 in Nashua, NH to Julien R. and Ruth T. Demers.
Dennis graduated from Nashua Senior High School in 1976. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976 to 1982 and was stationed at Loring AFB in Maine, and also served in Alaska and South Carolina. In 1982 he started his air traffic career at Logan International Airport as an air traffic controller. In 1988 he transferred to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. He worked in the controlling tower for a number of years and became a training specialist. Dennis was integrally involved in the development and planning for the two new towers at DFW Airport. He retired in 2013 after 32 years but continued on as an instructor in the training department.
Dennis was a generous, loving, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.
He was an airplane enthusiast and devoted Red Sox fan. He was a season ticket holder of the Texas Rangers and enjoyed many games with his friend, Roger Mendenhall.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: He is survived by his 3 children Lauren Demers and her fiancé, Jeremy Windom of Colleyville, Ross Demers and Bevin Demers both of Dallas, TX; one grandson, Julien Demers from Dallas, TX; brothers, Robert A. Demers of Nashua, NH, Daniel Demers of Haymarket, VA; and sister, Elizabeth A. St. Laurent of Nashua, NH; 5 nieces & nephews, Matthew and Brittany Demers, Sarah and Steven Martin, Alyssa and James Marks, Ryan Demers and Amy Demers; and Tina Demers and her children, Lauren and Dustin McMillan.
