Denise J. Clevenger, born on May 10, 1973, in El Paso, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Denise was the beloved daughter of Henry L. Sowers and Pamela Jo Stacks Sowers.
A dedicated school counselor with the DeSoto Independent School District, Denise earned her master's degree with the sole purpose of helping children. Her intelligence and curious mind made her an exceptional counselor, while her humor and engaging personality endeared her to all who knew her. Denise never met a stranger; her kind-hearted and nurturing nature left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Beyond her professional life, Denise was a passionate traveler and a devoted missionary. Her love for God was evident in the way she lived her life, always serving others with a selfless spirit. Her great enthusiasm and appreciation for music always had her playing a song, singing or just humming to her own beat.
Denise is preceded in death by her husband, Lee "Shorty" Clevenger who was the love of her life, and both of her parents. She is survived by her sister, Pam "Perky" Brown, and her husband, Charley; her brother, Mike Sowers, and his wife, Stacey; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by numerous other relatives, friends, and the countless students she mentored and guided throughout her career. Denise's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to helping others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Rather than flowers/plants, we request a donation be sent to the Children's Miracle Network on behalf of Denise Clevenger should you so desire.
