Debby Elizabeth Atkison

Debby Elizabeth Atkison, 80, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Arlington. She was surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Calvary Pentecostal Church, 204 N. Ector Drive, Euless. The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service. Debby was born March 1, 1939 in Hanford, CA to Leonard Dinsmore and Ada Grant Dinsmore. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Pentecostal Bible Institute, where she was a soloist in the choir. She was living in San Leandro, California when she met her future husband, Johnnie. The couple married on August 20, 1966 in Castro Valley, CA. They lived in Delano, CA where they welcomed 2 children until 1971 when they moved to Freemont, CA. In 1977 she and her family moved to Texas where she worked as a kindergarten teacher. She then changed career paths to work as a unit secretary at Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth, TX and worked as a medical secretary a few years for a physician before finding what she truly loved, which was childcare in her home. There she found two of the loveliest families, the Nieswiadomy and Faber families, and four children that she truly adored. She called these children her adopted grandchildren: Meredith Nieswiadomy Ray, Sarah Nieswiadomy Osuorji, Katie Nieswiadomy, and Dawson Faber. Debby loved her church, Calvary Pentecostal Church and the people there. Above everything in her life, she loved Jesus. She left her family the legacy of her life story as to how to live and love. Debby is survived by her husband of 53 years, Johnnie W. Atkison; son, John T. Atkison; daughter, Tonya Atkison; and grandchildren, Dana Thompson, Drew Atkison, Danielle Atkison and Devon Atkison; She is also survived by her brother Elmer Dinsmore. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leonard, Bertha, Almus, Alamae. Private family interment at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
